Take an easy walk to the Empire State Building (5 1/2 blocks), Macy's (7 1/2 blocks), Broadway and the theater (about 15 blocks), Gramercy Park, the Farmer's Market at Union Square, The Village and the United Nations.
Soho is a quick ride south on the #6 subway which is just 2 1/2 blocks away. Or you can head north on the #6 to Museum Mile and the Metropolitan Museum. When you don't feel like walking, ride to Bloomingdale's with a stop right under the store. Park Avenue busses are 1/2 block away and run north and south. Lexington Avenue busses are 1/2 block away and run south. Of course this being New York, you can always hop into a taxi.
