Lakefront In Southern Swedish Countryside
Our Home
Lakefront house with private beach, in the Southern part of Sweden. Relaxed countryside setting but only an hour away from Copenhagen, Denmark.
Tennis court, soccer goals, boule court right in front of the house.
Japanese inspired architecture, contemporary interior with all modern amenities.
It is a comfortable, 2 storey house of 172 square meters, on the beachfront of lake Ringsjön, and built 1998.
Situated in the countryside, but with friendly neighbours nearby.
The ground floor consists of a large hallway, bedroom with a large bed, toilet with shower, laundryroom, kitchen with both electric and gas- stovetops as well as all conveniences including dishwasher and microwaveoven. It is open to the livingroom, which has a fireplace. There is also the wintergarden that we normally use as our diningroom.
On the next floor, the ceiling is 4,5m at highest and thanks to a window on top, the light is wonderful. There we have a big bedroom which has 2 childrens beds and also is used as the playroom. 2 small rooms each have 2 beds; one bunkbed and two, 90cm wide, very comfortable beds. The upper livingroom houses computers and books and is divided by a foldingdoor/wall. The smaller part is also used as a bedroom, with a sofabed and the possibility to add a matress on the floor. The upper bathroom has a toilet, shower, jacuzzi, towelheater and 2 washbaisins.
We are currently building a guesthouse (studio) of 35 m2 with will have its own pentry and shower with steam sauna. It will sleep 2 and will be the perfect place for your au pair/grandparents/teenagers/yourself who want some distance to the main house.
You will need a car to get around, and we could arrange for you to borrow our Opel Zafira -06, with seats for 7 persons.
Our Neighbourhood

If you want to have a relaxing stay, close to nature, but with friendly neighbours nearby, this is the place to be.
It takes you about an hour to reach Copenhagen, Denmark by car and train is also available if you don´t want the problems of parking.
Malmö is 40 minutes and historic Lund, the first university town in Scandinavia (1425), is 20 minutes away.
You can take the bike to "One of the best 10 new golfcourses in Europe"(according to The Golfer Magazine), Elisefarm, and there are several other golfcourses within 20 minutes drive.
A biketrail leads to the nearest store, 3 km away.
You can let the kids out on the paved road in front of the house to bike or rollerskate without fear. There is very little traffic and the occational car that passes by, is usually driving very slow.
We a Zoo which specialize in Scandinavian animals 20 min away. It has free entrance for kids.
Tosselilla, family fun park with waterslides. Foteviken, a reconstruction of an old Viking village, can be reached in 1 hour.
Use our boat to go to Bosjökloster, the oldest castle in Skåne (1080), which has a garden exhibition, animals and sometimes fairs during the weekends, and fish a pike on the way.
If you are into locally produced food (besides the fish in the lake), we have a neighbour who has ponds with crayfish which he cooks the traditional Swedish way and sells in August, there are also vegetable and herbs for sale nearby and locally produced meat close by the Zoo.
Less than 1 hour drive, you can get to the apple region in Sweden, which is also a haven for all kinds of painters and handicrafters, with small galleries scattered in beautiful surroundings.
Visit www.skane.com for information in English, German, French and Danish.
A daytrip is recommended to the Swedish glasswork area where glass from Kosta, Boda, Orrefors and the likes are sold at discount prices.
When you are tired of all the fresh air, you can use our small apartment in downtown Malmö to enjoy townlife.
And we haven´t even mentioned all that Copenhagen (on the other side of the Öresund bridge from Malmö)has to offer.
About Us
Both of us are in the transport industry. Tomas plans transports/logistic solutions, and Marie-Louise works in the sky.
We also have a small apartment in downtown Malmö, within 10 min walk from the railwaystation, which could be included in the swap.
We don´t necessarily need 8 beds.
The smaller children enjoy to sleep together, and don´t mind sharing their bedspace, or sleep on a matress on the floor.
We met 5 years ago and have now moved into Marie-Louise's house.
It is crowded sometimes as the amount of kids vary between 2 and 8. + friends!
Usually it goes just great, since they always have someone to play with and with this amount of kids they really need to be able to behave, and take good care of things and eachother.
People are sometimes amazed of how quiet it can be, with all the kids at home.
All of them love water, the younger are taking swimminglessons. Biking, painting, reading, playing with lego, board games and computer games are also favourite pasttime.
Let´s not forget our cat. He eats and sleeps out of the house, in a storage area with a catflap, and even though he is very sociable and will need to be fed once a day (our nextdoor neighbours can probably help if you are taking a longer trip), it is not a must to have him indoors if you are allergic.
We do enjoy to try local food, and think that is an important part of travelling.
For the exchange of Summer 2012, we are looking to find a home in, or close by Annapolis. If possible; with a pool, and walking distance to a bakery/convenience store.
