Our Home
Private home, with yard and garden, in quiet residential community in Queens, New York, an easy 30 minute commute to exciting Manhattan. Near everything yet suburban feel. House has three bedrooms, and comfortable leather couches, too.
The master bedroom has a queen size bed, another bedroom has a full sized elevated bed, perfect for two, but on the younger side as this elevated bed has to be climbed into, and the third bedroom has a twin bed. There is one bathroom with a shower/bath combined. We also have a fireplace, which is pretty unusual for a NY home. Our home is a ranch style house so everything is pretty much on one level, except my daughter's room with the twin bed, that is only a few steps down.
Our Neighbourhood
I don't cook much so we have delivery menus for many types of cuisine in the area from Italian, Japanese, Chinese and Mexican, to Phillipine cuisine, and more. Within a four block walk there is an elegant Italian restaurant, a Russian catering hall, Burger King, Dunkin Donuts, and a Pizzeria.
We have bicycles if you would like to venture to our boro's several parks, or jog, hike. In Cunningham Park, just a mile down the main road, a quick bus ride, there is a wooded area for hiking and there's also tennis and bacci. There are several playgrounds nearby, as well. Synagogues are in walking distance and churches are nearby, as well.
We are one block off of a main road where the bus runs. There are several buses. The regular bus that goes to the subway (Q46) where you can pick up the train into Manhattan. And the express buses, QM1 that go to various specific areas of Manhattan. SOme go to lower Manhattan, some midtown; each one says where it goes.
About Us
My name is Adrienne and my husband is Brian. We have two children, one finishing up high school, and another approaching high school. We have a very tiny dog, named Nugget, who we would like to travel with. He's not quite 5 pounds, and is a cross between a Maltese and a Poodle. He is very well behaved and fully trained.
I am a professional clown, doing children's parties and corporate functions, and a balloon decorator for weddings, bar/bat mitzah's sweet 16's grand openings, etc. I am also working towards my MA in Creative Writing. My husband is in the security field, installing security systems in residential and commercial buildings in Manhattan. We have never done home exchange before and Brian, the skeptical New Yorker that he is, needs some convincing that home exchanging is the way to travel. I was sold when we saw the move, The Holiday.
