Charming Brooklyn Apartment

Please note that we are NOT available this summer (2011); we have an exchanged planned. But please feel free to contact us about 2012! We own this 1-bedroom walk-up on the 3rd floor of a modest late-19th c.
brownstone, featuring stainless steel appliances, hardwood floors, moldings, a fireplace, a tin ceiling, and roof access: you can sit at a small table and enjoy the view of the Manhattan skyline in the distance. It is safe, clean, comfortable, and quiet. The space is intimate, ideal for couples or close friends: there is one bed, a couch in the living room, and we own a very comfortable air bed that could also be used by up to 2 people. There is wireless internet, cable TV, a DVD player, a dishwasher, and AC.
WE HAVE 2 CATS and would need to discuss if you'd be willing/able to feed them and have them remain in the apartment.
Our Neighbourhood
Park Slope, Brooklyn is a well-known part of New York City with easy access to Manhattan. It was recently ranked the best neighborhood in New York City by New York Magazine and has been cited as one of the most livable neighborhoods in the U.S. It's known for being safe (many diverse types of families live here) and beautiful.
There are tree-lined streets, historical brownstone buildings, and we are 2 blocks away from Prospect Park. There are many shops, markets, restaurants, and bars. The Brooklyn Academy of Music, movie theatres, the Brooklyn Museum, the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens, and historic Greenwood Cemetary are all nearby.
The apartment is located in a major centre of the neighbourhood, just off one of the main streets, only steps from the subway and two blocks from the park. There are pharmacies, grocery stores, gourmet markets, bars, and restaurants within walking distance.
About Us
We are Carly and Rebecca, a married couple. We have each been living in New York City for over 10 years. Carly is a PhD student in Theatre Studies and adjunct college instructor. Rebecca is an Associate Dean at a small college in Manhattan.
We enjoy the arts, trying new foods, and travelling to all kinds of places (favourite trips include London, Moscow, Morocco, and camping in Puerto Rico). We are neat, respectful, and responsible, and we have previous home exchange experience.
