Stay In Our House And Experience Life In Malaysian

Our Home

Available for Short Term and Long Term Exchanges.

Bright and modern detached bungalow, 3,700 sq ft, in Seremban, in a small gated and guarded community with shared swimming pool. The house has lots of large windows throughout.

More about this property

The living room has a large-screen LCD TV for movie watching, and there is a supply of films to watch, books to read, and many places to visit nearby, to keep you busy.

The new kitchen is large in size, with stainless steel appliances. There is also a Malaysian 'wet kitchen' at the back of the house.

If you are an adventurous cook and like trying new foods, you can visit local stores and the wet market to find exotic vegetables, sauces etc to experiment with during your stay.

There are five bedrooms and four bathrooms, three of which are currently being used as bedrooms.

The 21 x 18 ft master bedroom has been transformed into an office/art studio, with a large bathroom and jacuzzi attached. So if you are the creative type you would have some space to work (an artist's long desk and easel), or if being on the internet is important, the office is equipped with a computer/printer, and there is high-speed wireless throughout the house.

The first bedroom, located on the second floor, has a Malaysian king-size Getha bed, a separate bathroom, and a connected large walk-in room as closet.

The second bedroom, located on the main floor, has a Malaysian queen-size King Koil bed, and is attached to a bathroom.

The third bedroom, located on the main floor, has a Malaysian single-size bed, and is attached to a bathroom.

The house has an inside laundry room with washing machine and tumble dryer.

We have a gardener who maintains the property; if you need maid service we can arrange it for you.

We have a 2009 Honda City four-door car that could possibly be included in the exchange.

Our Neighbourhood

Our house is located in Seremban (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seremban), a growing city of about 500,000 people in the state of Negeri Sembilan.

The city is large enough to find all amenities needed (it has a Jusco, Parkson, Tesco, etc), but small enough to give it a 'local' feel that you don't necessarily get in Kuala Lumpur.

More about the neighbourhood

Elizabeth Leong of the New Straits Times wrote about Seremban in July 2010:

"Seremban, the capital of Negeri Sembilan, was founded in the 1870s and was originally named Sungei Ujung. Compact in size, it bustles with a small-town charm that's infectious to visitors. A map is not necessary to drive around Seremban. The traffic jams are bearable, and there are enough eating places and sights to make a visit worthwhile."

Our house is located in a quiet part of town; it is best if you have a car to get around town, although taxis are available.

We are situated in a good location for exploring other parts of Malaysia, as the house is easily accessible to the E2, the large expressway which goes north to Kuala Lumpur and south to Johor Bahru.

The house is:

- Thirty minutes from KLIA (Malaysia’s international airport);

- Forty-five to fifty minutes' drive from Kuala Lumpur (or you can go by train: there is a train stop in Seremban);

- Fifty to sixty minutes' drive from the historic town of Melacca;

- Twenty-five minutes' drive from Port Dickson and the beach.

The Seremban Train also connects to other cities and to Singapore.

About Us

We are a married couple: an American artist (41) and an Iranian writer (34).

We met though friends in the UK, spent some time in Turkey, and lived in Iran for a few years, before moving to Malaysia in 2009. We bought this house in 2010.

We do not have children.

More about us

We have one indoor cat, who is extremely friendly and affectionate. We are flexible about taking the cat with us, boarding him or having him stay at the house during the exchange. We would be happy to care for your pets if you have any.

Regarding exchanges:

We are open to smaller size properties, as there are only two of us; our most important requirement would be high-speed internet access.

We would be interested in short trips any time in Malaysia, and are also interested in home exchanges in the following countries: Indonesia, Laos, Macau, Maldives, Brunei, Cook Islands, Samoa.

We would also like explore the possibility of long-term exchanges with home owners in the United States (prefer least six months or one year but open to discussions), so that we could spend some time in the US.

This could give you the opportunity to see what local life is like in Malaysia, which would be helpful if you are considering moving here, or if you want something more than just a tourist experience.

We are thinking about starting a long-term exchange sometime in 2012 or later, and are open to suggestions from interested home owners.
