In any exchange, it is prudent to hold a deposit from your partner. In the event of a cancellation, or of any minor damage to your home, a deposit is often the best way to settle any outstanding balance between exchangers.
Geenee allows you to select your deposit amount, and holds them in escrow for the duration of your visit, at no cost to you beyond standard PayPal charges.
Once your trip is over, simply fill out or easy to use Feedback form, and we will return your deposit.

No, a deposit is optional – you agree whether there will be one, and if so, for how much, between your exchange partner and yourself.
Geenee provides a formal Agreement document, Geenee will help you to resolve any issues, and Geenee will add your comments to your exchange partners home page, good or bad, if you make the Geenee payment. The deposit, which is held safely by Geenee, and not by someone exchange who you have only just found, is an optional extra.
Geenee does not request a record of correspondence. Once Member A has asked Member B if they want to discuss an exchange, and Member B has said that they are interested, then we give you each others email address, so that you can ask each other as many questions as you want to, using your own email system. All we ask is that you do not pass out your email address when contacting another member initially. This is for your own protection, as this is the preferred method for fraudsters.
I’m not too clear. If one finds a place one would like to swap, is there a charge as both parties use your website etc. What would that be\/ (I am a South African citizen)

Your citizenship has no bearing on what you do on Geenee.
There is no mandatory charge to anyone using Geenee. We advise that, when you find a link, you use Geenee Cover, to ensure that everything goes smoothly, but it is optional.
